WHY are we here? HOW did we get here? WHAT will we do with the time that we have? These questions among others always seem to surface when confronting the idea of death. Through confronting the reality of death, I encourage you to face these questions. However much the concept might weigh on us initially, it can also be viewed as a celebration of the life that has been given to us. Every word, action, and thought matters so much more when we realize it could be our last. Time becomes more precious. While death itself is not a welcome thing, it unites every single person no matter their age or background.
In this piece I have photographed and digitally drawn four subjects that I know personally. Each of them is at a different age and stage of life in addition to other differences such as ethnicity and gender. Diversity and differences are things that should be celebrated and appreciated because only God knows WHEN any of our friends, family, or community could be gone in the blink of an eye.
